How Much Time Should I Workout For?

How much time should I workout for is a common question asked by individuals looking to start their health journey.  There is much confusion about this as it seems this day and age every influencer is pushing the 15 minute exercise routine purveying a convenience based approach to health in order to achieve consistency.

The trouble is health isn’t convenient…neither is anything that is worth your time.

Yes, something is better than nothing, it is abundantly clear in the research that you should be participating in 150-300 minutes of exercise per week of moderate intensity exercise or 75-150 minutes of vigorous exercise per week….this is 20-42 minutes per day over a 7 day period…if a 5 day period, 30-60 minutes per day.

Exercise intensity and duration aids with prevention of diseases (diabetes 50% reduction, stroke 40% reduction and cancer 40% reduction).

So the Question You Should Be Asking When Asking How Much Time Should I Workout For is…How Much Am I Willing to Invest In My Health?

At Executive PT, we work with a great deal of high profile individuals who’s’ time is worth substantially more than the cost of attending sessions…however, the return on healthy years of business operations, work productivity, etc. substantially outweighs the “cost” in money, but more importantly, time.

The most valuable asset you have is your time, and if you aren’t willing to part with some time for your health, your health will in turn suffer.  Where your time and focus is planted, so is your energy and ultimately the fruit of your efforts is revealed…the question is, do you want the fruit to be obesity, diabetes, heart disease, stroke?

Or…

Do you want the fruit of your efforts to mean you have 10-15 more highly productive years resulting in double or quadruple your time and financial investment (at minimum)?

The choice is yours to make…only yours…but if you need help along the process to…

Get stronger

Avoid pain

Become more efficient with your movement

Prevent disease processes
